"Guardianship and Alternatives for Adults," part of the St. Louis ARC Family Workshop Series. At age18, a child becomes a legal adult. The young adult has the legal ability to sign a contract, make decisions about education, and decide who can be present in IEP meetings. Because of HIPAA privacy rules, health care and mental health care providers are no longer allowed to share an adult patient's information without the patient's consent. Parents and caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities must make important decisions before a child becomes a legal adult at age 18. This workshop will give you the information needed to make an informed decision. Tuesday, Nov 17, 2015, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the St. Louis Arc Centene Family Center, 1177 N. Warson Rd.. Advanced registration is required. For more information or to register, click here or contact Brianne Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org or 314-817-2216.
