St. Louis, Mo. – January 14, 2014 – The law firm of Danna McKitrick, P.C., is pleased to announce the election of Misty A. Watson to the position of principal, effective January 1, 2014.
Watson focuses her practice on estate planning, probate and trust administration, and guardianships / conservatorships for minors and adults.

She has a unique perspective as a former social worker that she brings to our firm,” said Ron Danna, senior principal and co-founder of the firm. “It is evident through her advanced education, community activities, and commitment to clients, both individuals and businesses, that she cares deeply about their legal needs and those of the St. Louis community. Watson serves as Practice Group Marketing Leader of the Estate Planning department and is a member of both the firm’s marketing and technology committees.

Watson is active in the community as a speaker on special needs trusts, guardianships, powers of attorney, and other issues related to estate planning. She is also active in a number of community service organizations, serving in the following capacities: board member of the Young Friends of Legal Services of Eastern Missouri (LSEM), finance chair, and recipient of LSEM’s John R. Essner Award; junior board member and sponsorship coordinator for the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition; sponsorship chair of the St. Louis ARC Young Friends; and chair of PROMO Governor’s Council. Watson was honored at the 2013 Washington University School of Law Women’s Law Caucus International Women’s Day 2013 Celebration for her work as a volunteer lawyer at LSEM and as co-founder of the Guardianship and Older Adult Life Planning Project (GOAL Planning Project). Past honorees include: Hon. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, U.S. Supreme Court; Jean Carnahan, former U.S. Senator; Robin Carnahan, former Missouri Secretary of State; and Hon. Catherine Perry, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri.
A graduate with a B.S.W. from East Central University, Watson earned both her LL.M. in Taxation and J.D. from Washington University School of Law. She is a member of the Estate Planning Council, The Women Lawyer’s Association of Greater St. Louis, the American Bar Association, The Missouri Bar and the Bar Association of St. Louis. Watson is licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois.
