Joel Shaw is a member of the firm’s litigation team focusing on civil litigation, insurance defense work, and workers’ compensation matters. His personal commitment and contribution to effective case management supports clients and aligns with the firm’s dedication toward effective representation.
Joel’s education in journalism facilitates his development as a legal draftsman. From drafting and filing pleadings and motions before courts and administrative agencies to conducting depositions, Joel’s writing experience is valuable within Danna McKitrick’s litigation practice.
Some of his recent accomplishments include:

Representing a cab company in a defense claim, he obtained both a defense verdict and judgment on the counter claim he filed.

Writing the summary judgment motion in a discrimination case in Federal Court where summary judgment was granted in favor of his client.

Author of several appellate briefs, first to the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission of the State of Missouri, and then to the Missouri Court of Appeals in a workers' compensation dispute.
Joel’s background representing both claimants and insurers brings valuable
perspective in his current work which is primarily for the defense. He has
significant experience in civil appellate practice.
Before joining Danna McKitrick in 2005, Joel spent two years working for
another insurance defense firm in St. Louis and a year with a plaintiff’s firm. He clerked with both the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Missouri in the Public Safety Division and the Regional Counsel's office of the Missouri Department of Transportation.
