Sophya
N. Qureshi
In her practice, Sophya Qureshi helps families in crisis by assisting them through legal matters such as divorce; valuation and division of assets, child custody, support;
adult and children’s orders of protection, and various other family or individual
legal concerns. She is a key attorney in the firm’s family law practice and she is co-chair of the firm’s marketing committee.
Sophya competently handles all areas of family law and spends most of her time on divorce and related custody matters. She is particularly well-versed in the use
of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders as an effective tool for satisfying judgments for past due child support and maintenance, and to access marital assets for division. A unique aspect of Sophy’s practice is her ability to assist Muslim
families as they integrate the specifics of Islamic law into American legal requirements.
Also proficient in the special area of legal guardianships and conservatorships,
Sophya establishes them for adults with disabilities or elderly persons who are no
longer capable of making their own medical and financial decisions.
Sophya joined Danna McKitrick upon graduation from law school. Prior to
graduation, she worked as a law clerk for a family law attorney for two and a half
years.
