Michael
J. McKitrick
Mike McKitrick merged his practice in 1992 to form Danna McKitrick where he leads the firm’s litigation department. In addition to resolving disputes, he also greatly enjoys serving businesses as their “outsourced" general counsel.
His substantial litigation experience—exceeding 30 years—includes commercial, real estate and bankruptcy matters. His unique business perspective, from both the business law and litigation angles, enables him to bring excellent proactive and preventive strategies to business clients.
Mike provides this level of service across an array of industries including manufacturers, real estate professionals, medical groups, and financial services companies. He has participated in numerous commercial real estate transactions, lease negotiations, business purchases, acquisitions, reorganizations, and financing transactions.
Specific
recent accomplishments with businesses include:
- Guiding clients through the sale/merger of their construction business including negotiation of terms, protection from potential pitfalls, and considerations surrounding earn-out of future revenues.
- Obtaining a reversal on appeal of an Illinois judgment against his client in a commercial lease dispute.
- Successfully defended a bank trustee in a breach of fiduciary duty claim by the beneficiary in an ERISA matter -- resulting in a judgment that pleased the client.
- Assisting
a physician group in the integration of a joint venture practice arrangement with another group and a hospital.
Mike strives to model his personal service philosophy of “abilities”: availability, affability, and ability. His persistence and his talent for understanding and dealing with a variety of people have been core in the success of his legal practice.
After law school but before beginning his legal practice, Mike served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
