M. Heffner
James Heffner is a member of the firm’s transactional practice group, concentrating in real estate, corporate, and banking & finance.
Real Estate. James' experience extends to the purchase, sale, financing, and leasing of real estate, as well as drafting and negotiating construction documents with varying delivery and pricing options. He routinely works with lenders, businesses, contractors, condominium associations, homeowners associations, landlords, and tenants in these matters.
Corporate. In facilitating clients' needs, James has negotiated, drafted, and closed a variety of corporate transactions, including: mergers, asset purchases, stock purchases, and stock redemptions. Additionally, James supports business owners in structuring business entities, shareholder disputes, and in general corporate governance.
Banking & Finance. Loan documentation, foreclosures, and workouts are among the areas in which James provides legal counsel.
Litigation. James is familiar with the entire litigation process from the initial client interview, pre-trial discovery, settlement negotiations, and trial. James has experience with appellate briefs, including a recent case won on briefs decided by the United States Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, Eighth Circuit.
Prior to joining Danna McKitrick, James served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Michael Calvin.
