Bio
A member of Danna McKitrick’s transaction team, Marcia Swihart Orgill concentrates her practice in the areas of business planning and taxation.
Marcia thoroughly enjoys application of the law and the intellectual challenge it continually presents—one might say it’s in her genes as she grew up among family members in the legal profession. Continuous study of law is also important to Marcia; she completed her Masters in Tax Law in 2007.
Marcia provides guidance surrounding complex domestic and international business and tax strategies. Some of her recent projects include:
- Drafting international distribution and sales representative agreements for a U.S. manufacturer with an extensive international distribution network.
- International estate and tax planning for high net-worth individuals and families.
- Assisting nonprofit organizations in obtaining tax-exempt status, the establishment of grant-making policies and procedures, and corporate governance matters.
After graduation from law school, Marcia practiced in a Texas firm researching and drafting materials for litigation cases, including class action employment discrimination suits, medical malpractice, and estate and will disputes.
After her time in Texas, she lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for 11 years, and in Paris for three. While abroad, Marcia taught English and sat on the school board of the International School of Kuala Lumpur. Living and working in multiple cultures gives Marcia a broader perspective that she finds helpful in addressing the needs of clients who have complex, global interests.
