Kara D. Helmuth

Kara Helmuth represents clients in commercial and civil litigation, primarily in insurance defense matters. She serves many industries but most often works with those in the transportation and manufacturing sectors.

Situations in which Kara represents insureds or claimants range from personal injury and products liability, such as scaffolding failures and barbeque grill fires, to claims surrounding breach of contract as in the misrepresentation of a business’ condition by the seller to the purchaser. Proactively assessing potential liabilities, she analyzes commercial and personal insurance policies providing both first and third party coverage opinions.

She has diverse litigation experience relative to her years of experience. Kara has been involved in defending claims regarding complex situations including vicarious liability, negligence, construction defects, and subrogation. Her cases have been resolved by settlement, motions for summary judgment, and some on appeal.

Kara joined Danna McKitrick in 2010 after working with another St. Louis law firm practicing exclusively in the area of insurance defense. She interned with the Saint Louis University Law Clinic where she had the opportunity to argue before the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District of Missouri, and participate in its Catholic Immigration Law Project. Kara also served as an intern for the deputy trial director of the Missouri State Public Defender’s office where she participated in capital murder trials.
