Bio

Ruth Binger serves emerging and mature businesses providing creative and pragmatic legal counsel in the areas of corporate, employment, and intellectual property law. Her knowledge of the multifaceted issues inherent in business operations equips her to share information and legal tools as well as strategies that help businesses achieve their goals. Supporting businesses and helping them grow are her passion.

Understanding that the law is merely a start, Ruth learns where business owners wish to “go,” advises them on ways to get there, and helps them understand pros and cons of each from a business and legal perspective to determine the optimal solution. Along these lines, she facilitates a group of business owners who serve as a peer advisory board sharing best business practices over the long-term.

Corporate. Guiding clients on structure and governance, Ruth routinely creates and reviews contracts such as license, franchise, confidentiality, distribution, consulting, and joint venture agreements. Recognized by her peers as adept in business law, she sits on the Commercial Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association; she is qualified as a neutral third party to resolve disputes between businesses.

Employment and Labor. Ruth helps mitigate, avoid, and resolve the challenges that employers face when managing and motivating employees. She competently defends companies when administrative action or litigation arises in employment terminations, upholding non-compete agreements, or handling labor union relations, which is how she began her legal career.

Intellectual Property. Handling trademark and copyright registration and enforcement, Ruth counsels in all aspects of intellectual property protection as well as related legal issues including joint ventures, licensure, corporate partnering, university licensing, and sponsored research.
